TrayControl is easy to use, and all program types are supported, system, sound, network, etc. It will remember if the icon is hidden or visible and can auto-restore them after restarting. TrayControl is also capable of changing the app tray icon as well as its tooltip. You can perform these actions without a third-party app, but TrayControl puts everything at your fingertips in a single location. It also allows access to the features of a highlighted app, as shown in screenshot #2 for Safely Remove Hardware. TrayControl does require 7-Zip or similar to unpack the archive.
