Some games are immediately addictive. Some games take a bit more time to enjoy. And some games only need to be played once. I'm afraid I'd put Spb Quadronica in the latter category although that's not to say it won't be to everyone's taste. There is definitely a game inside here that will capture some people's imagination. It is incredibly simple. You begin with a large grid of different coloured squares. From this grid you must plot four points to make a rectangle. Each of these points must be plotted on the same coloured square. Once you get the hang of playing Quadronica you quickly train your eye to pick out two squares the same colour on one row and then try and find their partners lower down the grid. One of the big problems is that as quickly as the grid clears each time you make a rectangle it refills. So you have no sense of reward. You are just left to collect points against the clock. Perhaps if I had given this more time the addiction factor would have kicked in but after my first couple of plays I didn't have the inclination. And that's a pretty good sign that this game is not quite up to it.
