DVapp captures in DV type 1 or type 2. It has a preview windows and a timer. It has a timer, which WinDV and Stoik don't and is free. The download comes with a .dll file. I am not a computer expert, but it seems that copying this file to the WINDOWS/system32 directory was necessary for the program to function. Highly recommended for those who need reliable capture with a timer. The program is small, CPU usage is low and dropped frames are not a problem.
