Firefly is a web-browser that has been developed for children to use. It uses an approval process to control the websites it can access. These websites are identified by Children’s Technology Workshop and the parents or supervisors of the children who use the software.Firefly is not a website filtering program. It does not prevent children from using chat, accessing social networking websites or any other website, once the site has been granted access by the supervising adult. Firefly is simple to use. Features: • Firefly is free to use at home and you are free to share it with friends • Firefly will only view approved websites • Firefly will download a daily list of newly approved websites from the Children’s Technology Workshop server • Non-approved websites require an adult’s password • Adults may preview and add additional websites to the approved list • Firefly uses Google for it’s web searches using the Google Safe Search feature; significantly reducing the likelihood of inappropriate material being presented in the search results • Firefly has a built-in scheduler to manage web-surfing time
